Success Stories from the Mentors involved in Stair Steps to Success
Kathy Cox: "My granddaughter has belonged to Stair Steps to Success for two years. She is very shy but this organization with the special people who lend their time has brought her out of her shyness so much. She always has fun and looks forward to the activities."
Stephanie & Steve Sexton: "Steve and I are both mentors for Stairsteps; this is his first year and my second. The program is in its second year and has opened many doors for these kids. They have gone places and done things that many of them would not have done without the program. It's been so rewarding to watch them gain self-confidence and come to the realization that, no matter their background, they have a chance to succeed! "
Rick Goss, "Stair Steps to Success has given back to me more than I ever expected. The mentoring process has allowed me to share and pass on many of my past personal experiences with the hope that they will make a difference in the lives as they have in mine."
Kathy Fuson, "It has been very rewarding and a joy to be with the group of 7th graders this past year. We have shared a lot of laughter."
Shirley Lueking, "I had the privilege to mentor Sullivan youth for one year and found each trip an adventure. I saw colleges up close and learned so many things I wish I had known before I entered high school. Each visit was encouraging for the students and there were always fun activities to finish each outing. The students benefited from the interaction and the adults saw insights into the lives of these youth. The program is a good one and will make any volunteer glad they were part of the program."
Rob Fish, "Stair Steps to Success is great because it encourages the kids to go to college, but it also shows them other career choices besides doctors, lawyers, and other academic intensive careers."
